Fila was established in Italy in 1911 by the Fila brothers. It started out providing clothing for people in the Italian Alps. There primary category was underwear and it was not until the 1970’s that they moved heavily into athletics and Tennis sportswear.

Fila play a major part in many ATP championships around the world throughout the tennis calendar in both sponsorship and player endorsement.

Some of the players that play with the famous F on their chest are Kim Clijsters, Dmitry Tursunov, Andreas Seppi, Janko Tipsarevic, James Ward, Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski, just to name a few. In the past the brand was brought to the forefront of the tennis fashion world by Bjorn Borg.

In today’s game the Fila match polo has been replaced by the simple and lighter cotton crew neck with the simple famous F on the chest. The Fila match polo is now a Fila vintage fashion piece at the forefront of the collection. They have the match polo in the range season after season, introducing new colour pallets each spring/summer and autumn/winter. This winter they have Chinese red, Navy Peacoat and the grey phantom.

The Cotton polo’s are vibrant and exciting. The main feature is the two tone collar and cuff on the sleeve. There is a classic Fila logo on the chest.

Moving away from sport, Fila have moved into the movie business in the last few years. Fila was big on the uk fashion scene in the 1980’s and was a highly regarded piece of clothing for the trendy youths of Britain. Many gangs adopted the sportswear as their brand and when two films ‘The business’ and ‘The firm’ came out about English football gangs and English drug gangs abroad in the 70’s and 80’s Fila was to heavily endorse the films and so make a comeback in the uk fashion market.

In the 21st century Fila endorsed tennis stars such as Bjorn Borg are joined by Movie stars such as Danny Dyer and tamer Hasan.
