Winter warmers from Luke - Sizzler jacket & Clanger knit

by garth 18. September 2009 10:14

It's fast approaching winter and for most of us that means we'll have to start thinking about wrapping up for colder times. As we've probably all experienced at some point, an onion has some interesting properties. First up, it can make your eyes water, not the best if you've just put your mascara on, but as the Sizzler and Clanger are for men, the mascara problem needn't worry you. Secondly, onions are known for packing heat - they're up there with the likes of garlic and for some, raw onion is simply too hot to handle. Now, I've got an interesting theory about the heat - layers! If you cut an onion in half you'll see it's made up from many layers and, with that in mind, I'd like to steer you, gently of course, back over to clothes. If you wear enough layers you too will be hot and, if you're wearing the right layers, you'll look good enough to make anyones eyes water! So, my theory is, be like an onion and you'll be warm and stylish this winter. So, without further ado, focus your attention on these eye-watering winter warmers from Luke:

The Sizzler short quilted jacket is thick enough to keep Jack Frost at bay for as long as you need to. Finished in wet look, sheer nylon with a fully adjustable hood, the jacket features button fasten pockets with an extra velcro pocket for your mobile phone or iPod. Adjustable cuffs mean you'll be able to step out without the worry of an icy tentacle slipping up your sleeve unannounced. We think this one's gonna be huge this winter!

Next up is the Clanger hooded knit. Features a button fasten front that goes all the way to the top, so you can even cover your face if the elements become too much to bare. Two button down pockets will ensure your belongings are kept safe (and warm!) and the cable knit detail is guaranteed to get the eyes of any discerning fashion lover watering within minutes! Be like an onion - get those layers on, get those eyes watering... just make sure you wear some deodorant!!! Until next time, fashion lovers!

Luke 1977 Marsh Polo - The style flood has come and now we're in Marshland!

by garth 25. August 2009 08:49

There's a few things that we associate with the word Marsh. We've been here before, especially with Luke 1977. It's as if they're providing us with a social commentary of some sort, naming items of clothing after popular culture icons. When we talked about the Hank jeans, we mentioned legendary actor Tom Hanks which, I feel, is fair kop. This time, the first name that springs in to mind when I see the word Marsh is party animal Jodie Marsh, famed for drinking loads and letting her "assets" hang out for everyone to see. Some of you reading this would like me to continue with that, but I'm not. Instead, I'm gonna talk about the marsh that Mother Nature gave to us, and I think that's fitting for this particular item as you'll be bogged down with regret if you miss out on this. It's our favourite Luke polo shirt to date and it's available in two ace colourways. And, as with a lot of our new Luke stock, you won't be able to find this anywhere else. Take a peek for yourself and check out the detail. It comes with pearl-look buttons, some fetching stripe detail and ribbed cuffs and collars.

Modern Amusement Corking jacket - Absolutely corking!

by garth 25. August 2009 08:28

As head blogster at field9.com I'm always looking for an opportunity to use a pun or two here and there. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to come up with something original, on other occasions, I have to regurgitate something that's been used before. I think that's healthy. As the American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch once famously said, 'Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination.' So, that's exactly what I'm gonna do when I tell you about the Modern Amusement Corking jacket - it does exactly what is says on the tin! Eh? You having that one? Don't worry ladies and gentlemen, I'm here all weekend! On a more serious note, this is one hell of a jacket. It's a lightweight bomber that comes with full zip through fastening, zip fasten pockets to the waist and one pocket on the chest that also fastens with a zip. There's the funkiest lining you'll have seen for a long time, with another slip pocket inside. The hood stows away neatly into the collar with another zip and every toggle that you see on the zippers is branded with the Modern Amusement crow logo.

Luke Silver Technical Jeans - Silver bullets!

by garth 11. August 2009 09:01

For those of you who don't like werewolves, you're probably all too aware of how to kill 'em - a shiny silver bullet. It's the only way! How do we know that? 'Cause of the countless 80's horror flicks that taught us that. There were all kinds of monsters that would pop up in those nasty (but good) movies which leads us on to these beasts: the Luke 1977 Silver technical jeans. Distressed denim with 8 pockets, including buttons on reverse, cross strap detail and black Luke branded buttons. There's not even a bit of silver in sight, but there are definitely enough pockets for you to keep at least a full round of silver bullets. These are definitely the ones for you if you scared of werewolves, they're also incredibly stylish and brand new for the A/W season.

Hanks a million!

by garth 11. August 2009 06:46

99% of the population would associate the word Hank with an incredible American actor. From The 'Burbs to Forrest Gump, Tom Hanks has been a mainstay on the silverscreen for almost 30 years. But this ain't the Total Film blog, it's the field9.com blog, and we do fashion, not films. So when we say Hank, we're talking about a pair of jeans. An incredible pair of jeans, if we're honest. The finest raw denim; flawless stitch detail; cinch back fastening for a customised fit; extra belt hoops for increased support and comfort; deep, functional pockets; exposed fly detail for increased aesthetics and, of course, all the little extras you'd expect from Luke 1977 - brnaded buttons and rivets, inner selvedge detail and applique detail to the front and back. All-in-all that's a lot of detail that's crammed into one pair of jeans. And, the great thing about the Hank raw denim jeans is the price tag. £85 will get you all of the above detail and style in the size of your choice. The jeans come in a fetching denim carry case with a coloured badge to indicate whether they're a regular or long leg. For that price, you'd be as mad as Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano.

Take a Luke at this!

by garth 23. July 2009 05:53

July. Who'd have thought a 4 letter word could give so many people so much joy? It's a wonderful word. For some people, the first thing that springs to mind, when they hear or read the word July, is Tom Cruise as the anti-war Vietnam veteran who starred in the 80's movie Born on the Fourth of July. It's a crying shame if that's the first thing that comes into your head, and you're probably reading the wrong blog! Most of us associate July with sunshine, ice cream and white t-shirts with brightly coloured stains. Here at Field9.com, we've grown to learn that July not only brings temperatures above 18 degrees, but also new stock, and that's what we're talking about today. NEW STOCK! For anyone who's checked the site recently, you should have spotted the new arrivals: Weston, Westy, On Tour and Gorge - four new pieces for the four letter word that is the wonderful month of July.

First up is the Weston raw denim overshirt. An exceptional piece of clothing, this shirt has it all. Quality denim, binded together with contrasting stitch detail that features throughout. Two button down pockets ensure functional substance and not just style. The now iconic Luke lion emblem features on the left pocket and each of the shiny black buttons and press studs are also branded. This is a must have item that you'll be pushed to find anywhere else at the moment. Worn buttoned up to the top or open with a plain white t-shirt, this will give you the perfect style injection you need for a night out or a trip into the city.

Next, we have the Westy. Not too dissimilar by name, but appearances vary considerably. This one's a zip through jacket with a removable hood, available in black or metal. Whichever colour you choose, the same Luke styling applies - press stud reverse pockets to the front, adjustable cuff detail and removable hood, all finished with Luke branded buttons, studs and zips. The hood features a drawstring and the Luke applique emblem is on the right shoulder patch. Our fave is the metal colour, goes well with black trousers or jeans and a nice tee or shirt.

Third up is the On Tour biker neck jacket. Clean, sharp edges make this one the smartest track top we've seen in a while. Button down waist pockets and a zip fasten chest pocket ensure there's plenty of room for keys, mobiles, iPods and the whatnot. All the trimmings feature Luke branding as standard. Goes perfectly with a trouser snake tee.

Last but not least is the gorge-ous Gorge jacket. Available in two colourways - metal or petrol - this is absolutely stunning. With oodles of detail, you'll get as much enjoyment from exploring the thing as you will wearing it. With multi-fasten pockets and full frontal zip, this one is a must have for those who love fine details. Like a covert ops training manual, there's a lot going on.

There's a Mau5 in the hau5!

by garth 16. June 2009 05:17

For those of you who don't follow what's happening in the music world, it's likely that you won't have heard of the focus of this piece... Canadian Joel Thomas Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5, is the latest minimal house/techno producer to be making big waves across the globe. Almost overnight Deadmau5 (pronounced "dead mouse" - the name comes from an incident when a mouse crawled into Joel's computer,) has gone from chilly Ontario in Canada to jet-setting all over the world to ply up-for-it clubbers with his own brand of house which he delivers in a unique fashion. Wearing a mouse head (not a real one!), Deadmau5 is instantly noticible and already he's been involved with the likes of fashion giants Gio Goi. In his new music video featuring Kaskade all the cast are wearing YO - Your Own clothing. The label is the brainchild of the boys behind Gio Goi and it's showing signs of going down a similar route to Gio Goi in its heyday. There's already been a lot of hype about YO, and with the likes of Deadmau5 and Steven Graham (Snatch & This Is England) showing their support, it should be a household name before long. However long-lived Deadmau5's success is, we think he's definitely gonna be blowing up for quite a while, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for Deadmau5 and the brand new YO label.
